Bradley County Sheriff Eric Watson announced the arrest of two people and the recovery of stolen property.
Bradley County officers responded to a burglary in progress call at an address on Benton Pike on Sunday. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a broken window. After clearing the residence, they completed a walk-through with the resident, discovering several pieces of jewelry with an estimated value of $6,000, change and medication missing. Additionally, tools were taken from the carport.
Patrol deputies, working with members of the Criminal Investigation Division, soon developed suspects in the thefts. Taken into custody were Glenda C. Yocum, 41, and Jeffrey Bruce Whaley, 41, of Cleveland. Both were charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000, and were booked into the Bradley County Jail.
Sheriff Eric Watson commended the diligence of both the Patrol and Criminal Investigation Divisions in clearing the case within hours of the initial report. Officers recovered the $6,000 worth of jewelry, the change, medication, as well as the tools taken in the burglary. All were returned to the owner.
