Walk Through Time At Chickamauga Battlefield Is Sept. 14-15

  • Monday, July 8, 2013

Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will host a historic “walk through time” in Chickamauga Battlefield on Sept. 14 and 15. Multiple programs will be offered at different locations throughout the park during this 150th anniversary commemoration, but the primary program will center on a timeline walk that will propel visitors through various living history stations. At these stations, participants will learn about occurrences in North Georgia between 1860 and 1864.

For those visitors interested, this is a free program, yet it is ticketed.  All participants will need to acquire tickets through the park website at http://www.nps.gov/chch/planyourvisit/civil-war-timeline-and-special-programs.htm. Tickets may be downloaded beginning July 14, by visiting the website,  choosing a time to attend, registering a name, and printing off a ticket.

These 1 hour and 50 minute tours begin at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center each day at 9 a.m, with the final tour leaving at 3:30 p.m.   Participants will need to have this ticket with them on the desired date and arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled tour time. Unfortunately, tickets will be released to others for those who are late arrivals.  Visitors will take a bus to the timeline, and it is important that departures and arrivals stay within their timed schedules.
