  • Monday, March 25, 2013

Memorial Health Care System officials said it has been decided not to sell its ambulance division.

Officials said, "Memorial Health Care System is deeply committed to ensuring the health and well-being of the residents of the Chattanooga community. Delivering consistent, high-quality ambulance service has been a focus of physicians and staff who work closely together to ensure every call for service results in the patient receiving the best possible care.

"Memorial routinely evaluates its support services to ensure we are operating in the most efficient manner to provide the highest quality care at the lowest cost. A business review was recently completed of Memorial’s ambulance (EMS) service.

"After completing a comprehensive analysis, the review team recommended that Memorial’s EMS service remain a Memorial-owned entity. Memorial leadership affirmed Memorial’s EMS service and highly skilled Emergency Medical Technicians are valued partners in our care delivery continuum. The service meets a critical service for our patients and is a valuable community asset. There are no pending plans to outsource the ambulance service."
