James Arthur DeFur, 65, of McDonald, TN, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013 in the VA hospital in Nashville, TN.
James was born on June 23, 1948 a son of the late George DeFur. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army after faithfully serving his country during the Vietnam era.
In addition to his father, James was preceded in death by his step-father, Bob Pevehouse.
James is survived by his mother, Virginia Pevehouse of McDonald; two daughters, Tracie Peters and her husband Mathew of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Stacy “Alex” Defur of Dayton; one son, Jeffrey Chambers and wife Piper of Joshua, TX; five grandchildren, Kahne and Zane Chambers of Joshua, TX, Walter Peters of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Damien and Lexi DeFur both of Dayton; two sisters, Jerry DeFur and Joyce DeFur both of Cleveland; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Thursday, December 5 at 2 p.m. in the parlor of Companion Funeral Home located at 2415 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, TN. The service will conclude with military honors.
The family will receive friends in the parlor from 12-2 p.m.
