Chatter Masters Club 3264 is the only club in Chattanooga and in Division C to receive the Smedley Award this year. The award established in honor of Ralph Smedley, founder of Toastmasters International, promotes the growth of membership and ongoing development of the Toastmasters organization.
Clubs around the world have the opportunity to add five new, dual, or reinstated members between Aug. 1 and Sept. 30 to qualify and receive recognition for the special award. The "Smedley Award" benefits include a ribbon which can be displayed on a club’s banner and a 10 percent discount off the qualifying club’s next order from Toastmasters International. There were several sister clubs within District 63 that received recognition for the award.
The 2013 District 63 Smedley Award Winners are:
Chatter Masters Club – 3264
Brentwood Early Risers Toastmasters Club - 1673
Tuesday Toasters Toastmasters Club – 3004
Lifeway Toastmasters Club - 5125
Chatter Masters Club President, Christopher Chaney calls this a historic moment for the club. “We are thrilled to be recognized for this award from Toastmasters International for the very first time since our club’s existence. Our club theme this year is ‘award winning excellence,’ and that focus is our approach with every event and effort our club engages in whether it’s our membership drive, educational program, community outreach, public relations or mentoring of a young leadership program.”
Mr. Chaney says Chatter Masters’ diverse membership of professionals, students and retirees have been a positive influence in attracting new members. For more information about Chatter Masters call 751-2921.
