American Boating And Yacht Council Offers Free Webinar On Electric Shock Drowning

  • Friday, July 27, 2012

In the wake of the recent electricity related deaths of several children on Tennessee and Missouri waterways, the American Boating and Yacht Council (ABYC) is offering a free webinar concerning Electric Shock Drowning (ESD).  This webinar is the second part of a previous presentation on ESD.

The webinar titled, “Part II - Electric Shock Drowning...The Invisible Killer - Marina Electrical Safety,” will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.  This second presentation is following an overwhelming response to a recent webinar on ESD, which thoroughly addressed the aspects of shore to boat power connection.   Part 1 can be viewed at: https://cc.readytalk.com/cc/playback/Playback.do?id=3bcxki

For the second segment, ABYC has joined the Association of Marina Industries (AMI) to cover the land based side of ESD by providing information tailored for the marina.

The webinar presenter will be Chris Dolan who is an application engineer with Marina Power & Lighting and Eaton Corporation.  Mr. Dolan oversees the design and development of over 600 marina plans per year, is a member of the editorial board for Marina Dock Age magazine, regular speaker at the University of Wisconsin's Docks and Marinas Conference, and writer of the utilities portion of the newest American Society of Civil Engineers marina design manual.
