Deffenbaugh Is GOP Candidate For Georgia District 1 House Seat

Republican John Deffenbaugh announced his candidacy today for State Representative, District 1.  District 1 includes all of Dade County and parts of Walker County.

Mr. Deffenbaugh is employed with Horizon Electronics as sales manager. He served a four-year term as Dade County Commissioner, District 4, Lookout Mountain and served as chairman of the County Commission for one year.  While commissioner he served on the finance committee that set an employee pay scale for the first time in history.

He also served on the personnel committee that established an employee handbook and provided vacation, health care, and retirement programs for county employees for the first time.  

He has served on numerous boards as a representative for Dade County and as chairman of the Dade County Republican Party.

Mr. Deffenbaugh and his wife, Linda, have lived over 40 years in Dade County and are members of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.  They have two sons, Matthew and Ethan, and four grandsons. 

Mr. Deffenbaugh is a 1970 graduate of Covenant College with a degree in physics. He is retired from the U.S. Navy
