Former Lakeview Middle School Band Director Charged With Child Molestation

  • Thursday, December 13, 2012

The former Lakeview Middle School band director was arrested on Tuesday for one count of aggravated child molestation, two counts of child molestation and one count of false imprisonment, according to Catoosa County Sheriff Phil Summers.

Sheriff Summers said the arrest of Thomas Harold Blevins, of Fredonia Road, Dunlap, involved inappropriate contact with a 14-year-old girl. The victim was not a student at Lakeview Middle School at the time of the incident.

During the investigation, Blevins resigned his position with the Catoosa County school system and was unemployed at the time of his arrest.

The arrest came after a month-long investigation by the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which began after a complaint from administrators at the Catoosa County school system.

On Thursday, Blevins signed extradition and was transported to the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office where he is currently booked on the charges. Blevins will face a first appearance hearing Thursday afternoon to determine if a bond will be set on the charges.
