Shot Fired At Soddy Daisy Officer Investigating Rolling Meth Lab

A shot was fired at a Soddy Daisy officer Saturday night while he was checking out a possible meth lab in a car. Officer Ryan Patterson was not seriously injured, but was checked out at a hospital. 

Officer Patterson was transported to Erlanger Hospital by Hamilton County EMS and treated for his injuries.

At approximately 8:25 p.m., Officer Patterson initiated a traffic stop in the 8400 block of Dayton Pike. A man exited the vehicle and began to run, When Officer Patterson gave chase the man turned and fired one shot at Officer Patterson missing him. The man continued running behind a business into a wooded area where Officer Patterson and Officer Jake Elrod took him into custody.

He was identified as 31-year-old Michael E. Owen. At the scene officers found the chemicals and components to a meth lab that came from the vehicle and recovered a sawed-off single-shot shotgun. The vehicle was being driven by 52-year-old Carrie C. Johnson of 9714 Reynolds Road, Soddy Daisy. There were two juvenile passengers in the vehicle - a seven-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy. Both juveniles were transported to the hospital as a precaution due to the presence of the meth lab in the vehicle.

The adults face numerous charges and will be booked into the Hamilton County Jail. Michael Owen also faces charges of aggravated assault from an incident which occurred on Nov. 1 involving a shotgun.

The inciden on Saturday night happened on Dayton Pike in front of Mile Straight Baptist Church.
