Clif & Ruzha Cleaveland, Waldrop Family, Starkey Printing To Be Recognized For Philanthropy

  • Thursday, October 18, 2012

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Southeastern Tennessee Chapter will recognize local philanthropists and volunteers for outstanding contributions to the Chattanooga community at its 2012 National Philanthropy Day (NPD) luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 14. AFP’s 2012 NPD honorees include:

Ruzha and Clif Cleaveland, Leadership Fundraisers. The Cleavelands have both committed long-time service to area nonprofit organizations and consider themselves fortunate to be citizen-participants in the remarkable transformation of the Chattanooga area.

They have expressed their gratitude to the community by demonstrating exceptional leadership skills in coordinating and motivating volunteers for fundraising projects.

Mark, Christine, Madison and McCall Waldrop, Outstanding Philanthropists. A dynamic family whose causes include education and nursing, their exceptional generosity during devastating tornadoes in their community encouraged others to follow their example.

Starkey Printing, Corporate Philanthropist. Since its founding in 1934, Starkey Printing has shown outstanding spirit and commitment to building a better community. By taking an active role in ensuring area nonprofits can fulfill their printing needs, Starkey sets the standard for other corporate support in Chattanooga.

“National Philanthropy Day is the day we recognize and pay tribute to the contributions that philanthropy – and philanthropists – have made to our great city," said Susan Robinson, president of the Southeastern Tennessee Chapter of AFP. “Each of our honorees has chosen to make a difference in Chattanooga by getting involved and keeping the spirit of civic betterment alive and strong.”

Local organizations can join in the celebration to honor individuals whose generosity has helped them further their mission. Local attorney, author and community leader Maury Nicely will serve as emcee for the event, which will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center. More than 400 people are expected to attend the NPD luncheon. Across North America, more than 100 AFP chapters and nearly 50,000 people will participate in NPD events.

Call 423 468-1122 or email npd@ch-cs.org to make reservations and find out how to honor individuals and organizations who, through their tireless work and dedication to philanthropy, have improved the quality of life in the community.
