Sara Brock
Sara Frances Fischer Brock, 83, of Lookout Mountain, died on Monday, August 22, 2011.
She was born on September 2, 1927, in McMinnville, Tn. Sara was involved in her community and loved her church. She lived in Rossville, until 2004, then moved to Lookout Mountain to be close to her children.
Sara graduated from George Peabody for teachers and taught ninth grade English in Lafayette and Baltimore, Md.
Volunteering was a big part of her life. She served on the board of the Houston Museum, worked in the Hunter Museum gift shop, the Hutcheson Hospital gift shop, and spent many years delivering meals for Senior Neighbors.
Sara attended Brainerd Church of Christ and most recently, First Christian Church, where she sang in the choir.
The McCallie School family will remember her sitting for six decades on the sidelines of football games watching her sons and grandsons play ball. She loved gardening, playing bridge, antiquing and walking for miles on Missionary Ridge and Lookout Mountain.
She was preceded in death are her parents, Francis Morris Fischer “Frank” and Ova Robinson Fischer, her husband, John William Brock Jr., and son, Paul Fischer Brock.
She is survived by her sons, John William Brock III, (Lisa), Mark Ramsey Brock (Lulu), Matthew Robinson Brock (Ansley), and her daughter, Frances Rebecca Yeates (Jeff), daughter-in-law, Catherine Cowan Brock. Her grandchildren include Elizabeth Wells (David), Grace Clark (Will), Anna Brock, Ramsey Brock (Megan), Andrew Brock, John Brock, Katherine Brock, Sally Brock, Margaret Brock, Brock Yeates, Matthew Brock, Parker Brock, and Louise Brock.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of Rossville Library,
Houston Museum, Boys and Girls Club of Chattanooga, and Monroe Carell, Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

A private burial will take place at Forest Hills Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23, from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
