This week we are asking for your help in the murder case of ten-year-old Joshua Lee Walden. Joshua’s body was found in a wooded area just off the 3100 block of 16th Avenue on Sunday afternoon December 10th, 2000.

He had been reported missing from his 14th Avenue home just after midnight Saturday. He has last been confirmed alive on Friday afternoon when he was seen riding his bike near his home. Walden’s red 16” bike still has not been found even though investigators have checked numerous leads.

An autopsy revealed that young Josh’s cause of death was asphyxiation. The killer doused Josh’s body with muriatic acid in an apparent attempt to “cover up the crime.”

Currently investigators are focusing on traits that an FBI analysis suggested. A combination of the following factors could help investigators identify the killer.

The offender in this case lived or had spent a considerable amount of time in the East Lake neighborhood and was very familiar with the neighborhood. The offender probably experienced lifestyle changes such as moving his residence, changing jobs, possibly altering his appearance, trading vehicles and even his marital status could have changed before or after the criminal act. The analysis strongly suggested that law enforcement probably had contact already with the offender during the course of the investigation.

You may have the information we need to bring this case to a close. Call Crime Stoppers at 698-3333. The call is confidential and could earn you up to $1,000 in cash rewards.
