John McGhee
John “Corky” S. McGhee, Jr., 69, died on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, while a resident of Rockdale Healthcare in Conyers, Georgia.
He was born, educated, and lived for most of his life in the Washington, D.C. area, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Art from Putney School of Art, in Putney, Vermont. In 1972, he moved with his family to Conyers, Georgia, where he becamean active member of St. Simon’s Episcopal Church.
John was preceded in death by his father, John S. McGhee, Sr., and mother, Edna O’Neal McGhee.
He is survived by his sister, Jovonne McGhee King, and niece, Lauren V. King, both of Conyers, Georgia; and cousins, Patricia (Jack) O. Mason, of Chattanooga, Janice Ann Jones, of Silver Springs, Maryland, Ronald (Carol) D. O’Neal, of Chattanooga, Wendeth McGhee Crowder, of Laurel, Maryland, and Rheubin (Joyce) McGhee Taylor, of Chattanooga.
Public viewing will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 423 622-9995.
