Cheap Seats For The Poor - And Response (7)

Thursday, September 06, 2012

You know when you are poor when you can’t afford a $10,000 seat or $1,000/$2,000 attendance fee to Mr. Corker’s fundraising affair for Ms. Romney's husband Mitt.

It must be nice to live in such royalty as the Corkers and the rest of our elected politicians. This royalty has no idea how to live like us middle – excuse me– low class society.  Beans and tatters are on my poor boys menu tonight.

Enjoy, Corker and the rest of you elite politicians, at the expense of us, last of the bunch, small, small, over taxed, over taxed business owners.  Your day is coming.

Mr. Mansfield,

As a member of the "low class" society you reference, I feel like you may have overshot this one. Just a bit. This event is a political fundraiser. That means it's an event that wealthy people attend in order to throw heaps of money at a candidate - hence the 10 grand per plate service. Is that a ridiculous price? Yes. Is it way out most people's range? Of course. But that's the nature of the political beast. It takes a ton of money to campaign. As a business owner, you know how expensive it is to just run ads in the local paper. Advertising is crazy expensive, and someone has to pay.
To threaten attendees with "your time is coming" is crazy. That language is ill-deserved. Unless the government forces you to pay and attend (kind of like forcing the wearing seatbelts or purchasing healthcare), there's no need to get hostile. Ignore it and move on.
Want to see a radical change? Get out and vote. Or campaign for a candidate. Or become a candidate. That's how you'll see the change you want. Threats get nowhere.

Why not include, by name, President Obama with his rich Hollywood cronies and George Soros. As long as you’re vetting, vet them all! I think the Pres has had greater per-plate meet and greets than Sen. Corker is hosting. I do see you include “the rest of you elite politicians”; so maybe your post is non-partisan?  Your falling for the “poor, poor middle class” stuff. Populist hogwash talk and none of them really mean it…either side. Strange how it is dirty to be a success in America right now!

Once again we see the abject hypocrisy of Democrats in Michael Mansfield's letter concerning the Ann Romney fundraiser at Senator Corker's house. If Mr. Mansfield is perturbed about the $10,000 admission fee, then I am sure he was absolutely outraged at the reception for Michelle Obama in Hollywood on Aug. 12 at  the home of  Warner Bros. CEO Barry Meyers. The maximum price for a ticket there was $25,000.

We Republicans are just poor Hillbillies compared to the Liberal Hollywood Glitterratti who support Obama.

George Clooney's fundraiser for Obama was around $36,000 per plate, so dinner at Bob's might be a bargain.

Funny how some people only complain about one side. Just like all the war protesters, we have had the deadliest last few months of any during the war...and no complaints, not even a peep from the gang.

Gosh, let's not forget the jovial and generous friends of Obama from Goldman Sachs, particularly that paradigm of charitable giving, Jon Corzine.

Clooney's bash may have been $36,000 per plate, but it was not in Chattanooga, Tn.

I blame both sides for an election that costs millions of dollars so a multi-millionaire can take a job that pays far less than his last job, at least in Willard's case.  I'm not surprised at the anti-left wing letter writing, either.  I am surprised that Afganistan would get mentioned, yet not a peep from us wasting eight long years in Iraq, during our "war for Mideast oil" invented by George W. Bush.  I have no respect for any politician from either side that voted for that blood-sucking, money-wasting fiasco. It's a shameful low point in our history.

I also find it ignorant to make fun of the "poor, poor middle class" when those same middle class wages have risen less than 18% over the last 30 years while the top 1% income has risen 273%.    Do the math.

Roy Exum: 50 Facts About Our Bodies

Maybe 20 years ago I became entranced by a book called “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made.” It was co-authored by a surgeon, Paul Brand, and a Christian writer, Phillip Yancey, and gave one specific after another about the human body and how only God could have created such a miraculous machine. Today the book is a classic and I have marveled ever since over how unbelievable human ... (click for more)
