Nephrology Associates Terminates Dr. Vikul Patel After Arrest

Wednesday, September 05, 2012

Dr. Vikul Patel has been terminated from the practice of Nephrology Associates where he was employed.  The unanimous decision was made by the board of directors at a meeting earlier this morning. Dr. Patel was arrested by the Northwest Georgia Crimes Children Taskforce on Sunday.

Spokesperson Andy Derryberry said, “Nephrology Associates wants to make sure the public knows that we’ve taken swift action in terminating Dr. Patel.  The practice will be contacting his patients to reschedule their visits with other physicians.”

“We want to be clear that Dr. Nilesh Patel of the group is of no relation to Dr. Vikul Patel.  Dr. Nilesh Patel is a valued member of Nephrology Associates,” he said.

Letters to reassign patients of Dr. Vikul Patel to other physicians within the group will be sent within the coming days.

“Patient care has always been and still is ‘Nephrology Associates’ top priority.  The practice fully intends to work with law enforcement in providing any information requested to assist with this matter,” Mr. Derryberry said.
