Austin Hatcher Foundation For Pediatric Cancer To Attend Educational Showcase Of Community Services

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer will attend Showcase of Community Services sponsored by Cleveland City Schools. The purpose of the Showcase is to increase community awareness and promote the theme “Serving Every Child Every Day.”

The Austin Hatcher Foundation will be in attendance to educate and to demonstrate a service known as Cognitive Remediation therapy.

“We will be showcasing Cognitive Remediation which is a service that is difficult to find, expensive, and most insurance companies will not cover,” said Patricia Kassebaum, clinical director at Hatch’s House of Hope. “Cognitive Remediation helps provide learning strategies to overcome possible learning deficits in attention, working memory, and processing speed that may be associated with childhood cancer survivors.”

Hatch’s House of Hope, a program of the Austin Hatcher Foundation, offers this service, among others, at no cost to the families.

Over 800 Cleveland City School staff, administrators, teachers, and non-certified personnel are expected to attend. The event will be held at Cleveland High school and will take place between 12 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

For more information about the event, please contact Ray Lallier at 423 838-4045 or Ray@hatcherfoundation.org. To learn more about the Austin Hatcher Foundation, please visit hatcherfoundation.org

Location Of The Delta Queen Is The Problem

The Delta Queen is a magnificent part of history and in many ways I'm pleased she is in town. Having the boat where she is is the problem. The boat blocks the view of and from the prettiest park in our town. The crew take many of the parking spots around the park leaving families to park across Frazier and schlep their kids, strollers and picnics to the park. You don't get fireworks ... (click for more)
