Erlanger Offers Classes And Events For Aug. 13-18

The Erlanger schedule of classes and events for Aug. 13-18 includes a variety of HealthLink Plus fitness opportunities, weight management and family planning classes. Call Erlanger HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.  HealthLink Plus is a free membership program open to adults 18 and older. 

Monday, Aug. 13
Bariatric Support Group
5:30-6:30 p.m.
Chattanooga Lifestyle Center
Bariatric Support Group meetings are for individuals scheduled to have Bariatric surgery or who have already had weight loss surgery.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register.

Baby Care & Safety
6:30 – 9 p.m.
Erlanger Baroness (Downtown)
With times changing and discharge occurring earlier, “Baby Care” provides you with helpful items on caring for your baby at home. This class will help you plan and prepare for a safe home environment. Registration fee is $25. Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 788-LINK (5465) to register.

Sleep Disorders Screening

Thursday, Aug. 16
Diabetes Education Class
1:30-4:30 p.m.
Chattanooga Lifestyle Center
This class, which takes place on Mondays and Thursdays, will explore ways to manage diabetes.  Call 778-9400 for more information on physician referral and insurance reimbursement.

Saturday, Aug. 18
Breastfeeding
9-11 a.m.
Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)
This class is designed to help participants make an informed choice about breastfeeding.  Learn breastfeeding basics, what to expect the first few weeks and special tips for success.  Concerns about returning to work/school will also be discussed.  This course is coordinated by a board-certified lactation consultant.  Registration fee is $20.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register.

Boot Camp for Dads
9 a.m. – noon
Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)
This session is for first time dads who want to learn more about the upcoming new addition in their family.  Topics include diapering, feeding, why babies cry and how to handle it, how you can help the new mom, learn about postpartum depression and general hands-on infant care.  A new “veteran” dad is invited (along with his new baby) to the class for question and answer time.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register. 

Minority Health Fair
9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Eastgate Town Center
Brought to you by Kappa Alpha Psi and Omega Psi Phi Fraternities, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the 28th Legislative District, the Minority Health Fair offers over 100 vendors providing health information, health screens, give-a-ways, and hands-on activities.  Participants will also be able to participate in a Fun Walk from 7:30 till 8:45 a.m. or donate blood to Blood Assurance during the fair.  Erlanger Health System will offer cholesterol and blood glucose screenings and prostate screenings for men.  Registration for the fair, fun walk, and screenings is required.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register. 


Grand Opening Held For New Meigs North Elementary Walking Track

Meigs North Elementary School celebrated the grand opening of its new walking track on Monday.
