The Nightfall Concert Series presents Texas singer/songwriter Hayes Carll on Friday at 8 p.m. in a free concert at Miller Plaza. Local act Amber Fults & The Ambivalent Lovers will open the set at 7 p.m.
Review for Hayes Carll:
Hayes Carll, 35, is continuing to make a name for himself in the Americana, folk, singer/songwriter world with a combination of whiskey-laced ballads, fiery rock, and music even touching upon gospel.
Carll and his band the Gulf Coast Orchestra have been winning audiences and topping critics’ polls since 2008 with the release of Trouble in Mind. Last year, “Another Like You,” Carll’s duet with Cary Ann Hearst, was American Songwriter’s #1 Song of 2011 – and his latest album, KMAG YOYO, was the Americana Music Association’s #1 Album, as well as making “Best of” Lists for Rolling Stone, SPIN and a New York Times Critics Choice.
Opening act, Amber Fults & The Ambivalent Lovers, is a powerhouse group of Chattanooga musicians. Amber Fults fronts the group with an incredible voice and honesty that comes across with every performance.
