Other Potential Voter Irregularities?

Saturday, August 04, 2012
Maybe the net should have been cast wider to detect any potential voter irregularities. There are other means to commit possible voter irregularities too. Just make sure the voters don't or can't show up at the voting sites.

For quite a number of years now, I've gone into a local public housing complex once, sometimes twice a week, to drive a couple of elderly women down to the public housing office to pick up their mail at the site's office. On Thursday when I took them, there was a largely typed notice on the door advising residents that location had been closed for voting and instructing them to go to some other site way out in Red Bank on Dayton Boulevard.
Both of the elderly women knew their voting site was now at the Beth Center on 38th Street, but they questioned how many others may have read that notice and just decided to give up on voting, because they didn't have transportation or any other means of traveling out that far to vote.

Whether this was an honest mistake on someone's behalf, a prank or done on purpose to throw potential voters off, we weren't sure/and knew no number to call to report it. However, reading through the individual precincts and how many people actually voted, the entire area had only a very slight turnout on Thursday. On  Friday when I went over there again to take them on their rounds, the note was still on the office door.

Roy Exum: 50 Facts About Our Bodies

Today the book is a classic and I have marveled ever since over how unbelievable human ... (click for more)
