Hear Now Cafe Begins Monthly Meetings At Ridgedale Baptist Church

The Hear Now Café will be meeting monthly at Ridgedale Baptist Church,1831 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421. The meeting room is located at the second entrance on the South side of the church. It is a across the hall from the gym.

The Hear Now Café, a support group for hard of hearing will meet on Friday, Sept. 14, at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of the Hear Now Café is to build a caring Christian community and a loving support group for hard of hearing. Organizers said, "We are helping people who have lost hearing and want to improve their quality of life." A special dessert will be served.

David M. Harrison, director of the Hear Now Café, and a hearing loss support specialist, extends an open invitation to attend at the new location. This meeting will be a hearing accessible event for hard of hearing. All hearing impaired and their families and friends are invited to attend this event. Meet new friends who are dealing with hearing loss.

Hearing loss is one of the most prevalent chronic health conditions in America. Forty-eight million Americans suffer hearing loss. They are the largest special needs group with serious quality-of-life and accessibility issues according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Café is the place to gain understanding about hearing loss through education, information, advocacy, technology and peer mentoring. The Hear Now Café is an exciting learning experience.

The ramp for hard of hearing is not built out of wood and steel, but a better method of communication called hearing accessibility.  It is hearing friendly and hearing accessible for hard of hearing people to see, hear and understand everything. The Hear Now Café is equipped with the latest FM listening devices and the telecoil loop amplified system for those who have “T” switches in their hearing aids. 

There is no charge to attend the café.
