Ooltewah's Nicole McKinney Named 2nd Team All Atlantic South Conference

GPS graduate (2011) and Tennessee All-State soccer player Nicole McKinney for Lincoln Memorial University was named this week to the 2nd team all conference team for the Atlantic South Conference.

Forward Nicole McKinney was selected to the preseason All-SAC Second Team and will be looked upon to provide experience and leadership for the Lady Railsplitters.

Hailing from Ooltewah, McKinney started the first 14 games of the 2011 schedule before a knee injury sidelined her for the remainder of the season. She returns to full strength this year and looks to build off of a freshman season that included a pair of goals and a pair of assists for a total of six points. She also notched 17 shots and 10 shots on goal.

Nicole is currently with her teammates in Brazil on a trip that includes 8 games in 6 days playing a variety of local teams.The team is staying in Braganca Paulista, located in Sao Paulo state, where they will lodge at Camp California throughout the week.


Christian Pineda Signs With Dalton State

Former Dalton High School runner Christian Pineda, 21, is coming home to run cross country for the new Dalton State team. Pineda signed this week in the James Brown Center on the DS campus. City Council Ad Hoc Committee To Study Moving Elections To August, Adding More Districts, Staggering Terms
