Ruth W. Bryan, 98, of Cleveland, TN, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012. 

She was a retired school teacher at Charleston Elementary School where she taught for 30 years. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bryan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bryan who was mayor of Charleston for many years; parents, Chapman and Lena Hobach Wasson; son, Steven Bryan; brother, Condon Wasson; and sister, Lanelle Wasson. 

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Thompson and husband Jim Thompson and Judy Bryan, all of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Robert Thompson, Christy Buttrey, Cathy Peterson and Christopher Shawn McKnight, all of Cleveland; and 11 great-grandchildren. 

A graveside service will be held Monday, August 20, at 4 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Robert Smith officiating. 

Her family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Monday, August 20 at Grissom Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 3405 Peerless Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37312. 

The Bryan family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to the staff at Life Care Nursing Home for their excellent care.

Harrell B. Bidwell, 67, of Ten Mile, TN, died on Saturday, May 18, 2013.  He was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church. Thomas Winfred Runyon, 72, of Soddy Daisy, died on Sunday, May 19, 2013. Rogers, 20, Shot Twice While Standing On His Porch

A 20-year-old man was shot twice while standing on his porch on Monday night. At approximately 8:44 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a shooting that occurred in the 1900 block of Walker Street.
