Thursday, August 16, 2012

The Association for Visual Arts has announced the seventh annual AVA Gallery Hop will take place on Saturday, Sept. 8 ,from 2-8 p.m.

Gallery Hop 2012 will feature numerous galleries and artist studios in and around downtown. “For the first time, all Gallery Hop participants met at AVA, under the leadership of executive director, Anne Willson. She invited our collective input in helping to create this year’s event,” said Miki Boni, local artist and Gallery Hop participant. “I’m very excited about the changes our visitors will experience and the cooperative spirit of our arts community.”

During the Gallery Hop, the public can meet local artists, watch demonstrations and learn about the artists’ creative processes at their studios. “Hoppers” who visit at least 10 galleries will be entered into a drawing for amazing prizes, including an Instant Art Collection, an overnight stay for two in the Artist’s Gallery Residence, and passes to the 2013 4 Bridges Arts Festival.

A brochure, which features a map and a description of each gallery and studio will be available at all participating galleries and online. This specially designed guide will enable hoppers to create their own route during the event and can also be used throughout the year for visitors interested in touring the local arts scene.  For more information, visit www.avagalleryhop.com or call 265-4282 ext. 105.
