Tennessee American Water plans to invest approximately $1 million to replace 23 large diameter valves at various locations throughout the Chattanooga service area during the next five months.
The project is tenatively scheduled to start on Monday.
When Tennessee American Water replaces a large diameter valve, customers located near the valve’s location can expect low water pressure, possible service disruptions and partial street closures until the company completes the work, officials said.
Tennessee American Water officials stated, "We realize our customers’ water service is very important, and the company will work as quickly as possible and during the weekends to complete the valve replacement so water service can be restored to the affected areas. The company will also work with local officials to ensure customers have advanced notice of possible water disruptions and street closures so they can plan accordingly."
