Otis Beene, Jr., 84, of Soddy Daisy, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012 in a local hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Soddy-Daisy and of the Christian faith. Jr. retired from Teddy Jenkins Construction. He enjoyed the outdoors, collecting old antiques of the past but most of all he Jr. enjoyed raising his many animals on his farm. He was a fond lover of bluegrass music and loved to joke and have fun with all his many friends and family. His sense of humor and wittiness is what we will miss most of all.
Jr. was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Crowe Beene; parents, Addie and Otis Beene, Sr. and brothers, Jay and Harold Beene.
Survivors include his daughter, Diane Beene Laymon; son, Richard (Paula) Beene; sisters, Bet Sutherland and George Ann Anderson; brother, Maurice Beene; best friend and love, Frances Tennyson; grandchildren, Jana and Johnny Laymon, Chris and Michelle Beene; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be on Monday, July 30, at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chris Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Tim Beene, Johnny Beene, Roy Coleman, Jr. May, Dickie Kell and Alan Rowark serving as pallbearers.
