Someone wrote to the Chattanoogan and suggested or implied that members of certain professions become "jaded" over time which might often lead them to become indifferent to human suffering, or sometimes even seemingly gleefully taking part in and/or promoting that human suffering. But ask any true honorable warrior worth being a warrior and he/she will tell you you've got it all wrong. A true honorable warrior shows pity and sympathy when he/she so much as comes across roadkill. Might even take time to stop and move it to the side of the road to a avoid further damage, or even bury it, if possible.
The true honorable warrior doesn't become a thrill killer, mass murderer because he/she witnessed the brutal horrors of war, and the terrible acts man is capable of inflicting on his fellow man, no more than a fireman (woman) will become an arsonist from having put out too man fires. No more than a professional surgeon will become a Jack-The-Ripper from having performed too many surgeries, or the honorable cop will go home and beat his spouse, significant other or child because he/she has witnessed too many acts of domestic violence or child abuse.
Those individuals that do already had those qualities and traits about them long before they entered that door. Ask any true, honorable, principled, disciplined warrior and he/she will explain it to you.
