Essie Faye Vandergriff May, 88, of Hixson went home to be with her Lord and Savor on Friday, July 20, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family and friends.
She was of the Baptist faith. She was the daughter of the late James and Ethel Vandergriff of Hixson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. May, two sisters and five brothers. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Foster, Carolyn Higgins both of Hixson, grandsons, Rick (Terri) Higgins, Michael (Amy) Foster, John (Crystal) Upton, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 23, in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend J.D. Gibson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Her family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, at the funeral home.
