Eight Area Players Chosen To TSWA All-State Baseball Teams

Eight Chattanooga-area players have been voted to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association all-state baseball teams.

In Division II, the honorees were Taylor’s Taylor Maxey and John Tipton.

Ooltewah’s T.J. Binder and Walker Valley’s Bobby Towne made the Class AAA team.

In Class AA, the all-state selections were Notre Dame’s Nick Chambers, Sequatchie County’s Hunter Hudson and Sequoyah’s Jake Johnson.

South Pittsburg pitcher Jacob Toney made the Class A team.

Final Round Of Signal Mountain Golf Canceled

Davin White emerged as champion on Sunday as the final round of the Signal Mountain Invitational was washed out. Heavy rain and thunderstorms forced tournament officials to cut the tournament to a 36-hold event, leaving White as champion. Whhite shot a 7-under 64 on Saturday, including a hole-in-one on No. 14, to finish the tournament at 5-under 142.   (click for more)

Shipman Sends Lady Vol Softball To Super Regional

Woman Found Dead On Lovell Road; Police Looking For Man Who Is On Tennessee Sex Offender Registry

A woman was found dead on Sunday morning at 8912 Lovell Road, and police are seeking a "person of interest" in the case. Deputies responded to that location at approximately 8 a.m. on a suspicious death. On arrival "deputies found a dead female in her 30s deceased from an apparent homicide."
