Moore, Addie Lea Hookey (South Pittsburg)

Addie Lea Hookey Moore, 93, of South Pittsburg, TN, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in a local hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Harmon Henry Hookey and Helen Grove Meeks Hookey.  Mrs. Moore was retired from South Pittsburg Knitting Mill where she worked for many years as a finisher and was the oldest member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe D. Moore, Sr.; daughter, Frieda Ann Moore Dawson; granddaughter, Jamie Leanette Turner; brothers, Jake, Herbert and Ted Hookey; and sisters, Viola Hookey and Ruby Wynne.

She is survived by her son, Rev. Joe (Betty) Moore, of South Pittsburg; grandchildren, James Christopher Dawson, Sabrina Moore Hayes, Mark Anthony Moore, Jonathan White, Quneta Reed, Christy White and Tamera Huckabee; one sister-in-law, Ruth Hookey, of South Pittsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 21 at 10 a.m. CST from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home.  Interment will be in Cumberland View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 20, from 5-9 p.m. CST at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg who has charge of the arrangements.

William “Bill” Wills Dowdy, 82, died on May 23, at Community Care of Rutherford County in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, following a very brief illness. Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge.
