Friday the 13th of July, which some consider as an unlucky day, became a blessed day in the life of a Baptist International Missions missionary named Miss Martha Kunberger. Around 2:30 p.m., an ice cream truck arrived at the World Missions Center of Baptist International Missions, Inc., with a special order of many varieties of ice cream treats. The entire staff was privileged to choose an ice cream treat to celebrate the 85th birthday of this missionary lady.
Even though it was a hot, muggy day, it was nothing compared to the hot days that Martha has experienced in her missionary endeavors. She survived the Congo uprising in 1960 where several missionaries were martyred. From there she went to Nicaragua in 1979 and experienced another dangerous conflict where all the missionaries were forced to leave the country or be martyred. “Thank God she chose to leave!” From there she returned to the BIMI Home Office in Chattanooga, where she continues to serve in various capacities.
BIMI would like to personally thank Frosty Treats for making this Friday the 13th a blessed day.
