Joe DeGaetano’s Judicious Temperament - And Response

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

Several months ago my wife was injured in an accident.  Once it was clear that the responsible party's insurance company was not going to provide any coverage, we decided to retain an attorney.  After interviewing several attorneys we selected Joe Degaetano because he was knowledgeable and he did not pander or over-promise.

Joe worked quickly and proficiently to move our case forward.

We are convinced that part of the reason the insurance company chose to settle in a timely manner was Joe’s appropriate use of strategic legal pressure to leverage them into doing the right thing.

It is very telling that Joe agreed to represent us for significantly less than the going rate, and much less than other attorneys quoted to us.  It was heartening to find an attorney whose first priority was effectively advocating for the interests of his clients without gaming the legal system.

Based upon our personal experience of working with Joe, we encourage a vote for Joe DeGaetano as Sessions Court judge on Aug. 2.

As the parents of Joe DeGaetano, it should be no surprise to anyone that we would like everyone to vote for him for Hamilton County Sessions Court judge.

Joe's grandfather and namesake came through Ellis Island from Italy.  It's a tribute to the U.S.A. that the grandson of Giuseppe DeGaetano is now running for judge.

Our son Joe is a distinguished lawyer.  He graduated from Vanderbilt University with high honor and from the University of Georgia School of Law with highest honor.

After graduation, Joe was appointed judicial law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals in Atlanta, where he served the public at a much lower salary than that offered by a large law firm.

Joe is experienced in criminal and civil law, and is chair of the Tennessee Bar Association Tort & Insurance Section. He has his own law office in Chattanooga.

When we moved here from New York in 1979 to our Hixson home, Joe was only five years old.  He later attended Notre Dame High School, where he distinguished himself in football, as a linebacker and leading tackler.

As a judge, Joe will succeed at tackling the threats to justice for us citizens.

Lookouts Win Fifth Straight Nipping Wahoos, 3-1

Andres Santiago and three Lookouts pitchers combined for a four-hitter -- including 3.1 hitless innings by the bullpen -- and Yasiel Puig drove in all three of the Lookouts runs as they earned their fifth consecutive victory (the longest win streak of the 2013 season), 3-1, over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. Puig's days well may be numbered with the Lookouts. But the big Cuban, ... (click for more)
