Ron Powers will be an excellent judge of our General Sessions Court . Ron and I worked together for 10 years, and I know him well. Ron possesses each of the qualities that we should look for in a judge: honesty, understanding of the law, courtesy and willingness to listen.
It’s easy to understand why a judge should be honest and have an understanding of the law. The other two qualities, courtesy and a willingness to listen, are maybe not as obvious. But they’re so important in General Sessions Court.
Many people appearing in Sessions Court do so without an attorney. Also, for many it’s their first and only time in front of a judge. It takes a lot of patience to listen, closely and carefully, to parties who do not have a lawyer. The judge must give everyone a full and fair hearing, and treat them with dignity and respect. Ron will do that.
Ron Powers is an experienced, qualified, skilled lawyer. And more importantly for this election, his personality and his ability to listen to people, to understand a problem, and to properly apply the law, will make him an outstanding judge.
I’m voting for Ron Powers for General Sessions judge, and encourage each of you to do the same. You won’t be disappointed.
