Major New Grocery Store Planned In North Chattanooga

Publix Expected On North Market Street

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

A major new grocery store is slated for North Chattanooga.

Construction of the store, which is expected to be a Publix, is set to begin next spring.

Alliance Realty Service is going before the Planning Commission next month for C-7 rezoning.

The site is on the east side of North Market Street running over to Woodland Avenue.

A site plan shows the grocery being built just north of Kent Street. Parking would stretch to the north to Bush Street.

Most of the property is owned by the estate of Joe B.

Scott Sr. David Knight is the administrator of his estate. Mr. Scott bought it in 1993. One section at 17 E. Manning is owned by Ben and Martha Kelly.

ARS has options to buy the property.

There are Publix groceries in Hixson and in East Brainerd.
