MacAuthority Opens Fifth Store In Johnson City

Friday, July 13, 2012

Regional computer retailer, MacAuthority, is set to open their fifth store in The Mall at Johnson City. With two locations in Nashville and one each in Louisville and Chattanooga, MacAuthority is continuing its growth as a regional retailer specializing in wildly-popular products from Apple, such as the iPod, iPad, and MacBook series.

The new shop is located in The Mall at Johnson City, at 2011 North Roan Street.

MacAuthority will join an industry-leading lineup of tenants already in place, with their 5000 square-foot showroom, situated just outside JCPenny on the Upper Level of the mall. "The combination of brands in The Mall at Johnson City play well against the life-enriching and cutting-edge merchandise we offer. We're a regional business, but we represent the hottest worldwide brand in tech," said MacAuthority Marketing Director Lucas Leverett. "We bring a "exible local store carrying Apple products to an already-top-notch mall."

MacAuthority President and CEO Mark Gregory is enthusiastic about the company's new venture into the Tri-Cities area: "We are thrilled with our new store. It is our largest mall location to-date, and will be a fantastic shopping destination for Apple users new and old."

A grand opening event will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21. "We had a great turnout when we opened in Chattanooga," Vice President of Retail Operations, John Hills, said. "I'd expect people will be eager to get in on the fun this time, too."

The store will give away a limited edition tee shirt to the !rst 100 visitors, as well as conduct drawings for dozens of prizes, including a MacBook Air, iPad, iPod shuf"es, and merchandise from some top brands, including Tennessee-based Grif!n Technology and MacAuthority's popular house-brand: 4mac.

Company representatives are confident the new location will be viewed as a compelling alternative to big-box electronics stores and national chains. "Customers get a personal shopping experience not found in the normal retail hustle. With us, you've got friends who specialize in the coolest gear and back that up with product knowledge and friendliness you don't typically encounter in stores also carrying appliances, DVDS, and cat food," Mr. Leverett said.

Over its near-15-year lifespan, MacAuthority has experienced considerable growth alongside the Apple platform. "Seeing this company expand from a mom-and-pop used computer shop for us Mac folks, and now move into an area of the state that has been chomping at the bit for our all-Apple focus is very exciting," said Mr. Leverett, "I can't wait to see this store thrive, while bringing these amazing products into people's lives."

Who's Driving The Bessie Smith Strut Into The Ground?

As the annual Riverbend Festival has come to a close I seem to be at odds with one particular thing and no it has nothing to do with seeing CeeLo’s rear-end. That one thing is the Bessie Smith Strut and the lack of what it used to be. It is just my opinion but there seems to be a driving force of setting the event up for failure and for what?    The event survived a ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: Me & The Ficus Benjamina

I got back from my two-week vacation at the Mayo Clinic "spa" late Saturday night and spent most of the day in the bed yesterday, nursing my way through the latest round of infections.
