Montessori Kinder International School is partnering with the Cleveland Family YMCA and the Trousdale School this year for its annual Culture Camp. This summer camp features a program for all children between the ages of 3 and 10 years who enjoy learning about tje world and its cultures in a hands-on, peaceful and intercultural way, officials said.
The camp will be held July 9-July 20, Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-noon in the Multi Purpose Room at the Cleveland Family YMCA, 220 Urbane Road. The cost is $100.
The main goal of Montessori Kinder’s Culture Camp is to raise cultural awareness - by traveling virtually around the globe in 10 days. Camp kids will learn about other cultures, their traditions, languages, geography, clothing, housing and foods. This year’s itinerary will include visits in countries like Brazil, India, Argentina, Egypt, Australia, Austria, Japan, Ethiopia, and Bulgaria.
Culture Camp participants work together in groups, directed by qualified Montessori staff. The materials used during Culture Camp are designed to provide a wide variety of experiences, integrating all academic areas to provide a balanced learning experience.
“Our entire team is looking forward to Culture Camp and we are especially proud to collaborate on this program with the Cleveland Family YMCA and the Trousdale School,” says Montessori Kinder Director Brigitta Hoeferle. “Culture Camp has been a staple of our school’s annual events. Given the increasingly diversified demographics in Cleveland, Bradley County and the surrounding areas we are glad to introduce our students to skills that all of us need: Awareness, appreciation and mutual respect for other cultures.”
