Thank heavens somebody is listening and watching what TDOT is proposing to do with the roads around our city. Their foresight and vision when it comes to future planning of roads leaves a lot to be desired.
If you drive on I-75 or US 27 in and around our city you can see the examples of their planning.
Please be sure they think what our traffic will be like in 10 years are longer rather than in one or two years like they have done in the past.

I must respectfully disagree with Duffy Franck on his criticism of TDOT, especially regarding the planning of Highway 27 through downtown. I am old enough to remember when they were planning the Olgiati Bridge, the Golden Gateway and the roadway north to Signal Mountain Road. This was during the 50s and it would be interesting to see what the traffic projections for the 21st Century were over 50 years ago. Also I am sure they were under some budget considerations as they also had some construction restraints as the road comes right through a canyon from SM Road to downtown.
As I recall the biggest controversy was over trying to retain the old Cameron Hill neighborhood with its historic structures. I barely remember Cameron Hill but wish there had been some plan that could have kept the neighborhood.
Certainly there are some legitimate complaints about TDOT and the planning 50 years ago for Highway 27 but all in all I think they did a pretty good job under the circumstances.
