Why Wasn't This DUI Driver Stopped Before?

Friday, June 22, 2012

Friday's Chattanoogan article Judge Puts Brakes On Man With 4 DUIs In Less Than 2 Months reports that this drunk scofflaw was required to wear an alcohol-detecting ankle bracelet, and have an alcohol-detecting device placed on his car so he can't drive with alcohol on his breath.

The sentence meted out by the judge was a slap on the wrist.  How is that going to go over with the relatives of some young person he might kill while out on $150,000 bail? Big deal.

I think that any person who has had five DUIs shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a motor vehicle of any kind. I also think that anything over two DUIs should require mandatory jail time plus the loss of use of an automobile.

How is it that he wasn't stopped from driving before he injured someone on his fifth DUI?
