The Hear Now Café, a support group for hard of hearing, will celebrate its one year anniversary on Friday, July 13, at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of the Hear Now Café is to build a "caring Christian community and a loving support group for hard of hearing."
All hearing impaired and their families and friends are invited to attend the anniversary potluck supper, said David M. Harrison, director of the Hear Now Café. This meeting will be a hearing accessible event for hard of hearing. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish to share. Make a reservation by calling 624-1669 or email: letmypeoplehear@yahoo.com.
The Hear Now Café anniversary potluck supper will be held in the activity center at Ridgeview Baptist Church, 6 N. Moore Road and Brainerd Road.
Hearing loss is one of the most prevalent chronic health conditions in America. Forty-eight million Americans suffer hearing loss. They are the largest special needs group with serious quality-of-life and accessibility issues according to the World Health Organization.
The ramp for hard of hearing is not built out of wood and steel, but a better method of communication called hearing accessibility. The Hear Now Café is hearing friendly and hearing accessible for hard of hearing people to see, hear and understand everything. It is equipped with the latest FM listening devices and the telecoil loop amplified system for those who have “T” switches in their hearing aids.
There is no charge to attend the café. For more information and reservations call 624-1669.
