Stand for Children Calls On State To Maintain Pre-K, BEP Funds

The group Stand for Children today called on Gov. Phil Bredesen and the Tennessee General Assembly to "find revenue alternatives in order to fund continued expansion of the state’s voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program as well as improvements to the BEP." “We greatly appreciate Governor Bredesen’s leadership on Pre-K and his work with Sen. Education, Arts & Culture Announces Essay Contest For Area Youth

The Department of Education, Arts & Culture, along with the Chattanooga Lookouts, is sponsoring the second annual summer essay contest – “Lookout Heroes – Here I Come” where area youth are encouraged to write about the hero/heroine in their life. This “hero” can be anyone who has touched their life – a parent, caregiver, sports or historic figure, teacher – the field is wide open. Ten winners ...

Walker County Schools Young Authors' Fair winners from each school attended a workshop and award ceremony at the Walker County Civic Center sponsored by the Walker County Schools Teachers of the Gifted.
