Lawson Advances In TGA State Match Play Championship
FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Hixson's Josh Lawson advanced to match play here Wednesday in the TGA Match Play Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. On the second day of stroke play qualifying, Lawson shot a 70 for a two-day total of 144 and a tie for 11th place. The top 16 players advanced to match play which begins Thursday morning. The Atlanta Braves were notified Thursday that Tommy Hanson has been voted the National League Rookie of the month for June. Hanson went 4-0 in June with a 2.48 ERA and a .222 opponents batting average in five starts. The tall redhead made his debut on June 7th. He threw six shutout innings against the Red Sox Sunday, running his scoreless streak to 20. Hanson's next scheduled start is Saturday, July 4th, at Washington. Click to enlarge photo.
