Received Purple Heart As Paratrooper During World War II Walter Jackson White, 82, of Rossville, died on Thursday, November 5, 2009. He was born in Chattanooga to the late Thomas and Marietta White. Walter served his country in WWII, in the U.S. Army Paratroopers, and received a Purple Heart. He retired from Crane Co. after 40 years of service as an inspector. She had served on the Board of Bright School and GPS and had been a member of the Junior League. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
