East Ridge Lands Dizzy Dean World Series
posted November 13, 2009

Dizzy Dean Baseball has chosen Camp Jordan in East Ridge to host the six-year-old and 11-year-old tournaments in 2010.

Kevin Wright, who heads the Camp Jordan baseball and softball program, said some 100 teams will take part.

He said it will mean a $3 million economic boost for East Ridge.

The last time East Ridge hosted a Dizzy Dean world series it brought in $1.5 million in local spending, he said.

Wright said one factor in landing the tournament was the fact that Camp Jordan has been outfitted with much-improved lighting.

He said the park will also host a softball tournament with 75-100 teams following the Dizzy Dean world series next summer.
