Brown, Virginia Osborne "Jenny" posted November 6, 2009
She was a native of Hartwell, Ga., and had lived most of her life in East Ridge. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Rossville where she had served as secretary and children’s Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Bridge Builders Senior Group, the Woman’s Missionary Union, and the Chattanooga Senior Citizen Group. Mrs. Brown was a bookkeeper by trade working for a pant company during World War II in Toccoa, Ga., as well as a bookkeeper with an insurance company in Washington, D.C., and Chattanooga. She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Annie Osborne; sisters, Tommy Canup, Mary Crawford, and Frances Brown; and two brothers, Patrick and Walter Osborne. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Elmo H. “Buck” Brown, of East Ridge; and several nieces and nephews. Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Paul Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens in Demorest, Ga. The family will receive friends on Monday from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville. |
