The Chi Omega Fraternity will host its third annual Chili Cook-off to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of East Tennessee on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Local restaurants and organizations will compete for the title of “Best Chili in Chattanooga,” and proceeds from the event will go toward granting a wish to upcoming UTC freshman, Mckeehanon, whose wish is to attend the British Open.
Tickets are $7 per person at the gate and include all you can eat chili, dessert, and the opportunity to vote for your favorite chili in a number of categories. Restaurants and local businesses can enter chili in the competition for a $50 entry fee per five gallons of chili.
Local “celebrity” judges will taste each chili dish entered and will name an official winner of the competition. People’s choice awards will also be given out for winners in the Best Restaurant and Best Organization categories.
The event will be held on the grassy area at Fourth and Mabel Streets beside McKenzie Arena on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) campus prior to the UTC versus ETSU men’s basketball game. The cook-off will begin at 5 p.m. and last until 7 p.m. Ticket holders can enjoy all you can eat chili while supplies last.
Advance tickets are available for a discount of $5 each. Local businesses that are willing to donate chili for the event but not for competition may do so at no charge.
