Beach Charged With Attempted Kidnapping Was Not Former Sports Writer posted November 3, 2009 A man has been charged in Bradley County after a mother said he tried to take her young daughter. Officers responded to Harry’s Food Mart, 115 Mouse Creek Road, in reference to a man who had tried to pull a child out of a vehicle on Friday around 3:15 p.m. Kimberly Minor told officers that while she was parked at 633 Mimosa Dr., a white man approached the passenger side of her vehicle, opened the door, and told her six-year-old daughter to get out of the car. Ms. Minor’s child pulled the door closed, while Ms. Minor began yelling at the suspect, later identified as James Beach. Ms. Minor told officers that the incident occurred in the parking lot of Franklin Beauty Academy. Ms. Minor called 911 to report the incident while following Beach to Harry’s Food Mart, where he purchased alcoholic beverages. Officers placed Beach into custody and charged him with attempted kidnapping. He is being held at the Bradley County Justice Center with no bond and will appear in court on Monday. He is not the James Beach who was a sports writer for the Chattanooga News-Free Press and is director of Market Issues for the Carpet and Rug Institute in Dalton. |
