Chappell, Frances Fentress

Frances Fentress Chappell, 91, died on Sunday, November 1, 2009.

Mrs. Chappell was born to the late Julia Blake Fentress and Baxter Lee Fentress of Greensboro, N.C. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward W. Chappell; son, Jerry R. Chappell; and brother, Baxter Lee Fentress Jr.

Mrs. Chappell had been a resident of Signal Mountain with her family since 1948. She was a very devoted member of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church.

She frequently participated in family activities; was active in the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts; and was an active leader/advisor and friend.

Mrs. Chappell’s most recent activities included gardening, playing bridge and being active in the Chattanooga Kennel Club. She had West Highland Terriers and Cairn Terriers.

Survivors include her son, Stephen L. Chappell of Knoxville; daughter, Julie Chappell (Robert) Knighton, of Signal Mountain; grandson, Chad Chappell of Atlanta; grandson, Chris Chappell; granddaughter, Alexis Chappel; and her precious little dog, Holly Blake. She was a cherished mother and friend and so loved.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, in the Marr Chapel of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church with Dr. William Dudley officiating. Burial will be in Greensboro, N.C.
