James "Buck" Cranfield, Ringgold, Ga., died on Sunday, November 1, 2009, at his residence.
He was born on January 5, 1936, in Athens, Tn. James retired from Cobble Company after 47 years of service and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Ollie Mae Cranfield; siblings, Willie Cranfield and Edna Hennessee.
James is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marie Rogers Cranfield; son, James “Rick” (Patty) Cranfield, Ringgold; granddaughters, Carla Hedden, Crystal Cranfield; great-grandchildren, Caleb Cranfield, Talan Cranfield, Tyler Hedden, and Carley Hedden; sisters, Dorothy (Elmer) Swafford, Decatur, Tn., Emma Lou (Harold) Monroe, Faye (Ronnie) Sneed, Athens, Tn; brothers, Kenneth (Mae) Cranfield, Elizabethton, Tn., Paul (Joyce) Cranfield, Oliver (Juanita) Cranfield, Dallas (Joyce) Cranfield, Kenny (Alice) Cranfield, all of Athens, Tn.; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and family.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Baptist
Church with Rev. Marvin Fowler, Rev. Ed Parson, and Rev. Henry Murrey officiating.
Interment will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4., at Idlewild Cemetery.
Mr. Cranfield will lie in state at the church from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday.
