Don't Drive And Talk On Your Cell Phone - And Response
posted November 2, 2009

Friday on Hwy. 153 south, I saw something that amazed me. I was pulling out of Northgate Mall on to 153 and needed to yield to an ambulance running an emergency.
There was a vehicle driving unusually slow in the right lane that apparently had no intention of moving for the ambulance. The ambulance driver had to move to the turn lane to get around the driver.

I assumed the slow driving vehicle was maybe an elderly person. Nope. It was a lady on her cell phone, and she seemed to have no idea what the ambulance had to do to avoid her because she was so engrossed in her conversation. I hope she see this and thinks about how she'd feel if the ambulance was running emergency to save someone she loves.

This is a huge pet peeve of mine as well.

Teens lean back in the driver's seat and talk on their cell phones. They are oblivious to any other drivers. They drive in either lane. They drive under the speed limit.

This has become huge problem. The drivers are unaware of the cars around them. They sway out of their lanes, run red lights and fail to yield the right of way. On one occasion, I witnessed one car who changed lanes and ran the car into a ditch. The person was not paying attention to the road. They did not miss a note on the phone.

Come on and get off the phone and drive,
