WW II Veteran Fought At Normandy

Robert W. Davis, 84, died on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, in a local hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist. Mr. Davis was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Normandy, France, in WWII.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Davis Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ruth Holt Davis; son, Charles E. (Tina) Davis, Lookout Mountain; daughter-in-law, Karen J. Davis, Conyers, Ga.; brothers, W.O. and Bud Scoggins, McDonald, Tn.; grandchildren, Robert Davis III (Heather), Conyers, James (Christy) Conyers, Brian (Stephanie) Davis, Conyers, Matt (Kimberly) Davis, Conyers, and Michael Davis, Lookout Mountain, Drue (Jonathan) Miller, Soddy Daisy; and nine dearly-loved great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with a U.S. military chaplain officiating.
