Hurray for the Tennessee Vols. Now can we have a bonfire and burn all the black jerseys. They look awful.
The Tennessee colors are orange and white and that has worked quite well in the past.
Hopefully, this was just a thing for Halloween and we will not see them again. Much like a clown outfit for Halloween, not for a football team.

Last night was a great night for Tennessee football. The past couple of weeks it's looked like the players are really getting comfortable in the new system, which has to scare everyone else. With the coaching staff and the recruits UT is getting in, it's exciting to look forward to the future.
I have to disagree with E.A. on the black jerseys though. When the guys came charging out through the "T" with those black jerseys on, the crowd went wild. I personally thought the jerseys looked great. I don't want them to replace the orange by any means, but on special occassions like last night, I would like to see the black.
Fulmer did great things at Tennessee, and by all accounts is a great man. Kiffin has upset some people with his brashness and willingness to speak his mind. Normally I wouldn't like that either, but he's brought the swagger back to Tennessee, and you could really see it the way they played the past two weeks.
The Vols weren't intimidated going to Alabama to play the #1 team, and they came out last night with no doubt in their minds that they were going to put it on South Carolina. I hope (and think) that last night the team turned a corner, and I wouldn't mind seeing those black jerseys again if they play like they did on Halloween.

No, no, no. Keep the black jerseys. They make a good contrast to the "milky looking" orange and white of old.
They also represent the new Kiffin era of Tennessee football.
Goooooooooooo black and orange.
They also make the players look bigger, stronger and more imtimidating. This gives them a psychological advantage over their opponents.
Golly bum, even a redneck dumb football fan like me knows that.

Ditto to everything Tyler said, especially about the fact that Kiffin has brought the swagger back to Tennessee. I've been a UT fan my entire life, and never have I seen a UT squad with swagger like that. The black jerseys looked great, and while I wouldn't want to see a permanent switch to them (and there certainly will not be one), I would love to see it once, maybe twice per year, tops.
Lane Kiffin has this program heading in exactly the right direction, and I can't argue with anything he does, including what color jerseys he decides to have his team wear. The future of Tennessee football is very bright, and it's an exciting time to be a Tennessee Volunteer.

Tennessee football was going down the drain under Coach Fulmer. It is not conjecture or a personal opinion. Mr. Fordice is probably correct to say Coach Fulmer is a "great man" and has "done great things." I hope, through all the turmoil that Coach Fulmer has had to endure, only the best for him and his family.
However, SEC sports are in fact a business, albeit a special type of business, but non the less, a business. When a leader/coach cannot get the job done he must step aside for one who can. Coach Kiffin has showed that he may have what it takes.
No one likes change, least of all a sports program steeped in tradition like Tennessee football is. Tradition is a standard that fans are comfortable with; it is a known.
Coach Kiffin has shaken the scared totem of football tradition at Tennessee, and that's a fact. If he and his staff can continue to improve the team, and the team continues to play as they have done this season it will a building block for true national greatness.
If greatness is blessed upon Big Orange football, fans won't care what the team wears. I don't care if the coaching staff wears tutus and the team suits up in pink; the game is about winning and achieving greatness for the university, the program and the individual players and staff.
Coach Kiffin in a tutu. I think he would if it would help the team win.

I am by no means a Vols fan, but I watched part of the game and thought their black jerseys looked great. One thing though: wearing white helmets with the black jerseys looked dumb and completely out of place. Keep the black jerseys, but only if you paint the helmets black too.
